There is no rail link to Kasol. The nearest railheads are Chandigarh and Kalka, from where it is a long hill drive — most travellers simply take a cab the whole way.

Start the trek early and plan an overnight at the top for the best of it.
ATMs are scarce beyond Kasol; villages like Tosh and Kheerganga are cash-only.
If you visit Malana, follow local customs — do not touch temples, shops or locals unbidden.
Even summer nights by the river are cold; winter is properly freezing higher up.
The Parvati road is landslide-prone in July–August — keep a flexible plan.
